A person who wishes to claim or disclaim succession of an estate in Mainland China has to provide a declaration to the relevant authority.

The following documents may be required:

• declarant’s identity document
• death certificate of the deceased
• if the deceased died with a will,  the will of the deceased
• documents to certify the relationship between the declarant and the deceased.
